Hi Friends,

I hope all of you are having a good April! Our weather here in beautiful Santa Barbara has been cool and then hot and then cool again, so it does not seem to know what to do! We all know that June Gloom is on the way and the fog will roll in and cool everything off for a couple of months.

Along with my friend Nancy I visited the 7 Sisters Quilt show in San Luis Obispo this last weekend and it was such a wonderful show, lots of beautiful quilts to see and many wonderful vendors. Saw some of my favorites like Cotton & Chocolate from Thousand Oaks, Beyond the Reef, Cotton Ball from Morro Bay, Creation Stations from Buelleton and I bought a wonderful cutting board for the top of my ironing board from Batesco www.batescoquilting.com and it is so fabulous. I live in a very small cottage so my biggest problem since I downsized is having a space to cut and this is the solution to my problems. So thank you J.B.

Watch the site for new ideas on our store and also for retreat ideas for 2010.

Don't forget to check out the www.alzquilts.org/ the Altzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative for their Quilt Auction of beautiful hand made art quilts and help a friend or a family in need who is suffering because they or a family member has Altzheimer's.

Thank You and Lots of Love Cathe

Welcome to my new BLOG

I am excited to be starting on this adventure of blogging. Believe me never in my lifetime did I expect that I would be called a blogger much less writing a blog. It's kind of a funny word and it makes me think of the word clogging or dancing and big funny shoes. So here we go. Things at Santa Barbara Quilting Retreats are kind of quiet right now. Ruth Mc Dowell was with us in November and it was such a wonderful treat to have her here in Santa Barbara and to bring her fabulous teaching skills to the beautiful Casa De Maria Retreat Center. She is such a nice lady and it was a pleasure to work with her. The women in this class produced some beautiful drawings and managed to put some cloth to their drawings and their end result will be fantastic.

Carol Taylor www.caroltaylorquilts.com joining us in November of this year and teaching a class that will be taught for the first time on the West Coast. We will be presenting this class at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel on the beach in Ventura and will offer wonderful food, first class accommodations and great instruction.

I will be blogging with you soon! Check out the website www.sbquilting.com Love Cathe

Watch for my tip of the week which will be on the blog soon.

Please think about sending in a block to the Alzheimer's Quilt Iniative they are raising awareness about the epidemic. Visit www.alzquilts.org to get more information about the 52 Quilts that are in the traveling exhibit. They raise money with a Quilted Postcard Auction and a Small Quilt Auction go to the website to participate.

Mary Lou Weidman one of our favorite teachers is going to be releasing her new book soon so check out her website at www.marylouweidman.com she also has information on her blog spot on an auction that is happening now for one of her fabulous quilts.
